Wandean Maddox

Wandean Maddox was born May 16,1948 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Homer and Lawana Williams. She peacefully passed on September 20, 2025.

In 1965 Wandean married Billy Maddox. She soon then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she earned her bachelor’s in education. She taught French and English for 38 years in Hydro, Chickasha, and Moore Oklahoma.

Wandean enjoyed reading, writing, gardening, spoiling her grandchildren, and exploring new places. She was a woman who centered her life on God, family, and friends.

Survivors include her three daughters; Kellie Duvall and husband Ron Duvall of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kristie Birchler and husband Keith Birchler of Huntingburg, Indiana, Jessica Boggs and husband Scott Boggs of Yukon, Oklahoma; sister JoRita Gholston of Lawton, Oklahoma; Two granddaughters, Sylvia and Mollie Birchler; two grandsons, Gage and Carter Boggs; and sister in-law Karon Barnett of Elk City, Oklahoma.

Wandean was preceded in death by her husband Billy Maddox, both parents, and brother in-law Johnny Barnett.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 30,2025 in Westside Church of Christ, located at 726 McGee Dr. Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Tribute Memorial Care.
