Wanda Lou Jensen

Wanda “Lou” Jensen September 23, 1938 – October 12, 2025 Norman, Oklahoma Lou Jensen, 87, of Norman, passed away on October 12, 2025. She was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Con S. and Donis C. Newell (Beets). 

Lou earned a B.A. in Journalism and a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Oklahoma. She worked as Women’s Editor at The Norman Transcript, later serving with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and in private counseling practice.

 She loved gardening, was a member of the Norman Garden Club, and was a prolific writer known for her thoughtful, handwritten cards. 

She is survived by her husband, James Jensen; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Myrna Jensen; her granddaughter, Julia Jensen; her sister, Dottye Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Con S. and Donis C. Newell; her son, Michael Jensen; and her sister, Nell Petrey.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Norman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of the Blind or a charity of your choice.
