Ty Nathaniel Howell passed away unexpectedly due to heart related issues on August 29, 2026 at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ty was born in Ada, Oklahoma on September 8, 1996 to William Howell and Stephanie (Swinford) Powell. He grew up in Okemah, Jenks, and Norman, OK. He graduated from Norman North High School in 2015. During high school, Ty was a member of the Norman North golf team. He attended Oklahoma City Community College from which he earned an Associate’s degree in General Finance in 2018. Ty graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Financial Planning.

Ty began his 10 year long career at First United Bank in 2016 as a Relationship Banker. He was promoted to Credit Analyst upon graduation in 2020. In August of 2025, Ty became a Commercial Loan Officer where he remained until his passing. His love for golf continued throughout his life as he enjoyed golfing with friends, family, and clients. Ty was a leader at work and strived to better those around him through the sharing of his vast knowledge.

Ty met the love of his life, Kayleah York, in the youth group at Bethel Baptist Church. They were married on August 18, 2018 and spent 12 wonderful years together, eight of them as husband and wife. Their daughter Laurelai was born in 2023 and quickly became the light of his life.

Ty was preceded in death by Thelma Smallwood and Robert (Gladys) Powell. He is survived by Kayleah and Laurelai; his mother Stephanie (Mark) Powell; his father William (Erin) Howell; siblings ViviAnn Howell, Bryce Howell, and Easton Powell; grandparents Wayne (Mildred) Swinford and Joan Hester. In addition, he is survived by many members of Kayleah’s family including Randy (Beth) York, Ethan (Lauren) York, Nathan York, and nephews Elliott and Bennett York. He will be greatly missed by those listed above as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, colleagues and members of the community who were blessed enough to know him.

Ty will be missed for his quick wit and sense of humor; his love of golf, shoes, and sports; his incredible work ethic; the impact he made on the community of which he was a very important part; but most importantly, for the love he had for Kayleah and Laurelai.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations for the future expenses of Laurelai Howell in care of First United Bank. Donations can be made in care of Ty Howell at any First United Bank location or mailed to First United Bank in care of Ty Howell, 10731 South Western, Oklahoma City, OK 73170.

Services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church located at 16001 South Western Ave., Oklahoma City, OK, 73170. He will be interned at the IOOF Cemetery in Norman, OK.
