He graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas, before continuing his education at Wayland Baptist College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1971. Throughout his career, Darryl combined his calling to ministry with a passion for counseling and care. In 1984, he became a Certified Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education. July 1, 1988, he began an over 30 year career as Director of Training for the Oklahoma Health Center Clinical Pastoral Education Institute and OU Medical Center. Darryl had over forty years experience as a pastor, chaplain and educator. He was the author of two books, Growing into Jesus, and Faith for a Lifetime, the Challenge and Celebration of Faith. During this time, he also pastored the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh.
Darryl was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Tiller of the home; his son, Luke Wayne Tiller and wife Frances of Norman; his daughter, Morganne Amelia Eaton and husband Brian of Yukon; his stepsons, Jason Dixon and wife Andrea of Norman, and Brad Dixon and wife Gabrielle of Norman; and his stepdaughter, Amanda Laufer and husband Mitch of Sherman Oaks, California.
He also leaves behind a large and loving legacy through his grandchildren—13 in total, including 4 grandsons and 9 granddaughters—as well as one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Danny Tiller and wife Angie of Amarillo, along with nephew, Bill White and niece Wendy Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David; and his sister, Pam Wingo and her husband Ronnie.
Darryl will be remembered for his deep compassion, his steady guidance, and his lifelong commitment to helping others through ministry and counseling. His work touched countless lives, offering comfort, wisdom, and support to those in need.
