A Celebration of Life honoring Alton Smith “Smitty” Fausett, age 86, of Norman, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, in The Chapel of Tribute Memorial Care, 4300 West Indian Hills Road, Norman, Oklahoma.
Smitty was born on Friday, September 1, 1939, in Washington, D.C., the son of Alton and Esther Lucile (Flohr) Fausett. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in his Norman home, surrounded by loved ones.
Smitty was raised by his grandparents—affectionately known to him as “Two Mom” and “Two Dad”—in Little Rock, Arkansas, graduating from Little Rock Central High School in May 1957. He later attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, on a football scholarship, graduating in 1961 with a Business Degree.
Smitty began his professional career with Target Corporation as a logistics coordinator in the company’s distribution department. A true entrepreneur at heart, he went on to become an Executive Professional Recruiter before founding his own firm as a Developer in Commercial Real Estate. Over the years, Smitty designed and developed many beautiful structures and business districts that continue to serve their communities—lasting reflections of his creativity, integrity, and vision.
After retiring in 2015, Smitty enjoyed traveling, fine dining, and a glass of Woodbridge. He was united in marriage to Myrna Rainbolt on August 11, 2018, in Norman. Together, they shared many memorable travels—especially Alaskan cruises and trips to Orange Beach, Alabama, two of his favorite destinations.
Smitty cherished time with family and friends, especially “YaYa’s Spaghetti Nights.” Another of his favorite retirement pastimes was spending time swimming with his family. These lazy, fun days were filled with laughter and smiles that brought him pure happiness. His unyielding wit and gift for conversation will be sorely missed.
Smitty was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Fausett; and his beloved grandson, Asher Fausett.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna Fausett, of the home; three children—Bret Fausett, Kelly Ross and her husband Mitchell, and Kristin Fausett Haddock; and his extended family, including Chris Rainbolt, Jeff Rainbolt, and Michael Rainbolt and his wife Melissa.
He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Eleanor Fausett and Claire Fausett; Courtney Ross Brown and her husband Brady; Mitchell Ross, Jr. and his wife Emmaline; and Sadie Haddock and Emma Haddock. He is further survived by six Rainbolt grandchildren—Brandon Rainbolt and his wife Amanda, Dillon Rainbolt, Brittney Rainbolt, Lillie Rainbolt, and Izzie Rainbolt among them—and one great-granddaughter, Jensen Rainbolt, all of whom held special places in his heart.
Services for Smitty and his family have been placed in the care of Tribute Memorial Care of Norman.
