Matthew Allen, age 41, of Norman, OK, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022. He was born April 29, 1981, in Oklahoma City, OK, to David Allen (of Bartlesville, OK) and Debbie Allison Allen (of Clinton, OK).
Matt was a 1999 graduate of Putnam City High School. He then attended University of Oklahoma, was active with Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Film & Video Studies. Raised in Grace United Methodist Church, following College, Matt spent 3 years working with Heart of God Ministries, traveling to China, India, the Netherlands, and other countries.
In 2007 Matt married Sally Day George. They were active in the Norman Community, where Matt ran his own business, Day Creative, for the last 10 years. Matt lent his efforts to Norman Next, Norman Chamber of Commerce, Norman Entrepreneurship Council, 1Million Cups, Economic Development Advisory Board, Watch Dogs at Adams Elementary, and OU Entrepreneurship Expo to name a few of his community involvement activities. In 2017 he was recognized as one of fifteen recipients in the 2017 Norman Next “Next Under Forty” Awards.
Active members in Antioch Norman Community Church, Matt and Sally have been raising their three children: Mason, Sophia, and Joseph. Matt is also survived by his Mother, Debbie Allen, Brother Mike Allen, Aunts Terrie Parker, Patricia Allen Upham and Rita Allen plus Uncles Rick Parker and John Allen. Matt was preceded in death by his Father David Allen and a daughter by miscarriage.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 25, at Antioch Norman Community Church (1330 E. Lindsey St, Norman, OK, 73071) starting at 11am. Services will also be streamed online. The family invites participants to stay for a reception and share their favorite memories of Matt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a go fund me account set up to go directly to the family.
