Mary Louise Mccorkle

October 29, 1934 — February 27, 2023

Mary Louise (Loeffelholz) McCorkle was born to Bernard Frank Loeffelholz and Mary Josephine (Rieger) Loeffelholz, October 29, 1934 in Norman, Oklahoma at home. Mary Lou graduated from St. Joseph’s School in 1952.

On Monday, February 27, Mary Lou, our beloved mom and Meme, age 88 years young, moved to her heavenly home.

Mary Lou as a young adult enjoyed social events, dancing and hanging out with her brothers, friends, and cousins. In her free time, she was involved in Glee Club and helped organize community events. She moved to Norfolk, Virginia with two of her close friends. Shortly after returning to Norman, she worked at Tinker where she was introduced to the love of her life, Bob McCorkle.

Mary Lou Loeffelholz and Bob McCorkle were married on March 9, 1960 in Norman, Oklahoma at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage. They had three children: Mike, Belinda, and Laura. The family grew over the years and mom always made time for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary Lou McCorkle was and will always be known as: a best friend, a stout Christian, a fierce patriot, a loyal Sooner’s football and softball fan, the best Meme ever, and our family Matriarch.

Mary Lou had the sweetest spirit and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a Godly example to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Even though we wish we had more time to spend with her, we know that God has a wonderful plan and needed her more.

Mom loved playing with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, family, and friends. She could be found riding bikes, playing Nintendo, cards, dominos, Wii, bowling in leagues, and attending all grandchildren’s sporting events. She was no doubt the loudest and proudest voice cheering them on. She had an infectious personality and a wonderful laugh that filled a room. Everyone that knew her, loved her. She had a knack for making anyone feel right at home. We were all so very lucky to have been raised by such a loving and caring mother and Meme.

Survivors include her son, Michael McCorkle of Norman, OK; two daughters, Belinda (McCorkle) and husband Brian Calvin of Purcell, OK and Laura McCorkle of Norman, OK; Five grandchildren: Chris and wife Sarah McCorkle, Josh and wife Sarah McCorkle, Brianna Calvin , Casey Jo and husband Derek Stevens, Nicholas and wife Charleen Calvin; eleven great-grandchildren: Zoe McCorkle; MaryBeth and Hannah Joy McCorkle; Laura, Claire, Jonas, Sophia Stevens and Mollie Custar; Makayla Rose, Luka and Stella Jo Calvin.
