Kyle never met a stranger. A true people person, he was a social butterfly who brought joy to anyone and everyone he encountered. His warmth, kindness, and genuine love for others made him a special presence in the lives of so many.
Born on March 23, 1975 to Robert and Margaret (Sala) Winstead in Oklahoma City, he lived a life full of connection, music, and simple pleasures. He attended Norman schools and graduated from Norman High School. In his later years, he lived at the Center of Family Love in Okarche, Oklahoma, where he continued to share his light with those around him.
He had a deep love for music, especially hits from the 70s and 80s, and you could often find him singing along, playing guitar, or dancing—moonwalking included. Artists like Barry Manilow were among his favorites, along with bands like the Eagles and the Bee Gees. He was also a big OU fan, always cheering on his team.
He enjoyed life’s simple comforts: burgers, fried chicken, Diet Coke, and chocolate cake with Cool Whip were some of his favorite treats. He also found joy in attending Catholic Mass and being part of his faith community.
Family meant everything to him. He shared a special bond with his family and was deeply loved by all who knew him. His life was a gift, and his joyful spirit touched countless hearts.
A proud member of the Knights of Columbus, he achieved the Third Degree, reflecting his commitment to faith, service, and community.
Though he faced challenges, including living with Down syndrome, it never defined or limited him. Instead, he lived fully, spreading happiness, laughter, and love wherever he went.
He will be remembered as someone who truly loved people—a rare and beautiful soul who made the world brighter just by being in it.
He is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Winstead, Grandparents Kenneth and Zobeida Petra Sala and Margaruitte and Luther Winstead and uncles Kenny and Michael Sala.
Survived by his father and stepmother-Bob and Pam Winstead. His siblings: Brother-Chris Winstead of Edmond, Ok and his children, Hunter Winstead, Ashley Mitchel (spouse Jemiah children Ethan and Logan), Renne Tong, Kalie Winstead and Katelyn Winstead.
