Kenneth was born December 8, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, graduating from Norman High School. Carol was born January 11, 1951, in Norman, Oklahoma and graduated from Noble High School. Their love story began at the church of Carol’s grandfather, Rev. Thomas Lawton Rogers, where they met as young people. They were married on December 17, 1968, beginning a remarkable 57-year marriage built on faith, partnership, and unwavering love.
Following high school, Ken honorably served 12 years in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Electricians Mate First Class where he embraced the disciplined life of a sailor and formed lifelong bonds with fellow servicemen. After completing his service, he returned to Norman with his family and built a respected career as a skilled electrician. Over several decades he worked for the University of Oklahoma, the United States Postal Training Center, RK Black, and Standley Systems, earning the respect of colleagues and the community for his work ethic and reliability.
Carol devoted much of her life to caring for her family as a homemaker. She also worked as a cook at several fraternities at the University of Oklahoma, where her warmth and home-cooked meals left a lasting impression on many young students who passed through those houses.
Faith played a central role in Ken and Carol’s lives. For decades they faithfully attended Classen Boulevard/Lakeside Church, where Ken served on the Pastor’s Council, as Sunday School Superintendent and as a teacher of several classes. In recent years they attended Crosspointe Church, where they continued to find fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual community.
Ken was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping, and tinkering on projects. He found joy in spending time outdoors and even greater joy in sharing those moments with his family. Carol was a passionate sports fan whose enthusiasm for her favorite teams—the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Pittsburgh Steelers—brought excitement and laughter to family gatherings and game days.
Together, Ken and Carol built a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and dedication to family. They cherished their sons, Bryan and Randy, and found immense pride and joy in their grandchildren Nathan, Lawton, Darian, Megan, and Liam. The memories they created together will continue to live on through the family they loved so deeply.
Ken remained committed to serving others throughout his life. He was a lifetime member of the Tony K. Burris Post 3608 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Blanchard, Oklahoma, where he served as Quartermaster and Chaplain. In his memory, contributions may be made to the post to support veterans in need and honor his lifelong dedication to service.
Ken and Carol are remembered as devoted spouses, loving parents and grandparents, faithful friends, and respected members of their community. Their lives were marked by kindness, resilience, faith, and service. Though they will be deeply missed, the legacy of love and devotion they shared will continue to inspire all who knew them.
