Jimmy (“Jim”) Ward, aged 92 years, was born on January 17, 1933, in Idalou, TX, to Thomas and Stella Ward, and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 23, 2025.
He grew up on the family farm in Chillicothe, Texas, the 8th of nine children, where he acquired his talent for and enjoyment of farming and gardening. The family has had many a delicious meal supplemented by his garden, including pineapples, and received numerous plants, including many prolific-blooming progeny from his Christmas cactus.
Jimmy attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Joyce Evelyn Ball. They were married on March 23, 1955, and spent 70 love-filled years together.
He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. Worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety from June of 1967 to May of 1995.
Jimmy was a man of deep Christian faith and a member of Westside Church of Christ in Norman, OK, for more than 29 years. Contributions in his name may be made to the church.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, seven of his siblings (Jewel, Zelma, Edmund, Samuel, Nora, Janiece, and James). He is survived by his wife Joyce and their children Diane Aduddell, Tammy Marshall, Greg (Brenda) Ward, and Marsha (Chukwuma) Nwawuba, four grandchildren (Monica, Colin, Haley, and Maxwell), and six great grandchildren (Joey, Kyeler, Julian, Layla, Evelyn(Evie), and Louis), and his sister Elizabeth.
A private interment will be held at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
