Jason Paul
Zimmerer
September 1, 1972 – April 28, 2026
Major Jason P. Zimmerer, USAF Retired September 1, 1972 - April 28, 2026 Major Jason Paul Zimmerer, United States Air Force Retired, went to his eternal rest on April 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of fatherhood, duty, and service to family and country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and LuElla Zimmerer, of Lindsay, Texas.
Jason was the 1990 salutatorian of Lindsay High School. In 1994, he graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts. He then moved to Lubbock, where he graduated from Texas Tech with a Masters of Public Administration in 1996. The following year, Jason was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As an officer, he was awarded many distinctions, including the Longevity Service Award, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Jason then worked as a hospital administrator for the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City. After retiring from the military, Jason enjoyed property management for his rental homes in Oklahoma and north Texas.
Despite his career of service, Jason considered his most important job being father to his two sons, Zachary and Ryan, who were the joy and focus of his life. From spending time taking them to the library and parks as children, to their annual ski trips, to working with them on shared pastimes of cars as teens and now adults, every moment was focused on how to provide for and support his children. He would tell everyone who would listen how proud he was of their achievements and the careers they are now pursuing as honor students at OU.
Jason will be remembered as a devoted father, friend, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his sons Ryan and Zach; his siblings Carol (Roger) Luttmer, Susie (David) Jones, and Rudy (Claudia) Zimmerer; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will forever fondly remember his intelligence, friendship, advice, and generosity.
