Janice Irene Price Ward, 84, was called home to Glory on December 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Jan was born on March 2, 1941, in Junction City, Kansas to Dr. Wesley Gilbert and Mabel Irene Price. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1959 and received her diploma RN from Marymount College in Salina, Kansas in 1962. She later went on to obtain her BSN from the University of Oklahoma in 1992. Jan had a fulfilling career as a surgical nurse, later a bedside nurse caring for patients in labor & delivery, newborn nursery, finishing in PACU. Her favorite and final job was an adjunct professor of nursing at Oklahoma City Community College.

Jan met Ralph in Salina, and it was love and friendship at first sight. They pledged their love and friendship until “the 12th of never,” and married on April 27, 1963. They were blessed with three bright and beautiful daughters, Connie, Becky, and Lisa. Ralph was in the Air Force, which took them to many places across the US including Mississippi, Oklahoma, Ohio, Nebraska, Florida, then back to Oklahoma.

Her life’s focus was her family. She became a master at cooking, gardening and sewing. She even tried golfing with Ralph for a short time. Sundays after church and every holiday, she would gather her family into her home and cook a wonderful meal, giving her children and grandchildren wonderful memories. Later in life, she found success as a writer. She is the published author of two award winning Bible based children’s books: “Smokey, The Gentle Guardian,” and “Smokey, and the Great Escape.” A quiet prayer warrior, Jan considered her legacy to be an ever-increasing family committed to Christ.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Mabel; her siblings, Barbara, Gloria, Donald, and Nedrick; and her daughter, Lisa.

Jan is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Ralph of Norman, OK; Daughter Connie and husband Mike of Willis, TX; Daughter Becky and husband Jim of Norman, OK; Son-in-law Robert of Norman, OK; Grandchildren Tori, Max, Amanda, Emma, Jennifer and husband Bailey, Thomas, and Kate; Great-grandchildren Ariella, Hadassah, and Brooke; felines Elijah and Silas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Jan would be grateful for memorial contributions made online to Hope Pregnancy Center South, at obhc.org, or mailed to OBHC, 300 Johnny Bench Dr, Suite 450, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.

Burial will conclude in the IOOF Cemetery of Norman, OK.
