James O. "Jim" Grace

August 1, 1952 — May 30, 2017

James O. “Jim” Grace was born on August 1, 1952 to George Albert and Eleanor (Osburn) Grace in Oklahoma City, OK. He passed at the age of 64 on May 30, 2017.

Jim grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School where he was an All-State basketball player. After high school, Jim played basketball at St. Gregory’s before finishing his basketball and academic career at Oklahoma City University. He worked most of his professional life as a counselor with juvenile delinquents as well as other social work dealing with both youth and adults.

Jim had a huge and giving heart, and he never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and was a fantastic storyteller. Jim loved to cook, especially breakfast. Jim was an avid reader, preferring sports-themed comedies.

Of all the things Jim loved to do, what he loved most was to spend time with his sons, Patrick and Evan. Whether they were on the golf course together or watching OU football, Jim always had time for his boys. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving and supportive father who would do anything for his sons.

Jim was preceded in death by: parents George and Eleanor Grace; brother Gilbert Grace; sister Margaret Bartone; and brother Patrick Grace. He is survived by: son Patrick Grace and his wife, Kelley; son Evan Grace and his wife, Danae; ex-wife Diane Grace; sister Cecilia Grace; brother Michael Grace; sister Madeline Andresen; grandson Jennings Grace; granddaughter Cora Grace; and granddaughter Sienna Grace on the way.

Jim was very proud of his Catholic faith and would be honored for memorial donations in his name to be made to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City (1501 N Classen Blvd, #200, OKC 73106 / 405.523.3000 / www.catholiccharitiesok.org).
