Jack Harold Duncan

November 1, 1943 — December 11, 2025

Norman, OK

Jack Harold Duncan went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2025 and is now reunited with the love of his life, Anita, in Heaven. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma on November 1, 1943 to Clyde and Stella (Campbell) Duncan, the youngest of seven siblings. He grew up in Altus and graduated from Altus High School in 1961 and from Altus Junior College. He then began a long career with Southwestern Bell which took him and his family to many places across Oklahoma until he settled in Norman while eventually working in Oklahoma City. He retired from Southwestern Bell in 1990 and then began a second career with Associated Communications & Research Services, where he finally retired in 2006.

Jack married Anita Deloris Pierce on October 6, 1962 in Martha, OK and they were together for a wonderful 62 years until her passing in August of this year. In January of 1964 they welcomed their first son, David, and one year later, Derrek. Jack was a wonderful example to his boys, never missing a day of work and taught them everything from auto mechanics to carpentry with a little hunting and fishing for fun. After his retirement, he picked up golf and all the other activities disappeared. He would play anytime, in any weather and with anyone and loved to take his grandchildren to the course. He loved his sons and his grandchildren, but his wife Anita held his heart. Over the years he expressed his love to her in so many sweet and tender ways from small gifts from every business trip to poems he wrote for her. Despite his declining health he continued to do so until she passed.

His greatest love was for his Heavenly Father, with whom he is rejoicing today. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served on numerous committees, taught Sunday School, volunteered in the children and youth ministries and loved to go on visitation. Many eventual members mentioned that Jack coming to visit them was a big reason they came back.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers James Duncan and Sam Duncan, and his sisters Bettye Brown and Bobbye Ebel. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Duff of Altus, his brother and sister-in-law Jerry Don and Carole Duncan of Oklahoma City, his sister-in-law Eva Jackson of Mustang, his sons David and wife Marla of Norman, Derrek and wife Cher of Norman, his grandchildren Taylor Strange (Kolby) of Little Axe, Hailey Allen (Brody) of McKinney, TX, Kathryn Duncan of Norman, Elizabeth Duncan of Norman, Cadyn Duncan of Norman and Trace Duncan of Norman.
