Hospicio S. Hernandez M.D. passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Hospicio was born on September 6, 1934 in Masantol, Pampanga, Philippines and was preceded in death by his father Leonardo Hernandez, mother Dolores Sunga Hernandez, sister Nanette Hernandez Lacap, wife Anunciacion Guevarra Hernandez and son Herendino Guevarra Hernandez.
Hospicio, also known as Hoss, studied at UST in the Philippines, where he received his medical degree. He practiced medicine as well as owning multiple businesses in the Philippines. After he and his family immigrated to America in 1969, he obtained his license to practice medicine and was a successful General Practitioner until his retirement in 2003.
Hoss enjoyed many things, particularly music, dancing, ping pong, pool, good food and his favorite pastimes, gambling and the race track. Later in life he enjoyed nothing more than sitting in a recliner, talking to his grandchildren or watching sports on television.
Hoss lives on through his two wonderful daughters, Herjerica Hernandez Santoni of Winfield, Illinois and Hermelita Hernandez May of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and their two husbands Dennis Santoni and Randy May, respectively. His legacy also continues through his loving grandchildren: Madeline Santoni, Andrew May, Brandon May and Ryan May who will always remember him dearly. He is also survived by his siblings Francisco Hernandez, Apolinar Hernandez, Benancio Hernandez, Estrella Ibay and Lollita Bonifacio.
Hoss was a man who thoroughly enjoyed life and fought bravely through his illness. He will always be remembered for his fun loving and colorful personality, his happy expression of love, calling every single person he met "my priend," his generosity and his caring for people. His legacy will be carried on through his love.
Visitation for Hospicio is Sunday, May 1 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, May 2 & 3, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. All visitation will be at Tribute Memorial Care, 708 24th Ave. NW, Suite 300, Norman, OK 73069. A Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 3939 W. Tecumseh Rd., Norman, OK 73072. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Norman, OK. Iterment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Norman, OK.
