Frances E. Waltman

Frances E. "Fran" Waltman, 101, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on October 12, 2026. She was born on May 13, 1925, in Maumee, Ohio, to Joseph N. and Frances E. Bauerschmidt.

On May 11, 1946, Fran married Alton M. Waltman of Lake, Mississippi, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee, Ohio.

Fran was a devoted member of the Catholic Church throughout her life, actively participating in parishes in both Ohio and Oklahoma. She held numerous offices and received many awards in recognition of her service. She was also a lifelong professed member of the Third Order of the Secular Franciscans.

Fran is survived by her children, Patricia L. Henderson and husband Jim; Diane Barrie and husband Art of The Villages, Florida; Frances E. Whitmire and Mary Lynn Alinger, both of Norman; and Jude T. Waltman and wife Elisabeth of Norman. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Joseelin Waltman of Norman; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Additional survivors include her sister, Pat Dickey and husband Ken of Waterville; and brothers, James of Amargo, New Mexico, and Donald G. and wife Daphne of Maumee, Ohio.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Alton M. Waltman; her parents; daughter, Sarah E.; son, Joseph A.; two sons-in-law; three brothers; and one sister.
