Dr. Edith K. Ragland

Dr. Ragland, known to most as Edie or “Dr. Edie”, age 82, of Norman, Oklahoma, died peacefully at home after a long illness on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Dr. Ragland was born July 28, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to her parents Harry and Edith Davis Keeton. Dr. Ragland was preceded in death by her devoted husband Dr. Bob Ragland; parents, brother Harry CF Keeton and sister Doris Keeton Duncan; sister-in-law Mary Burman and brother in law Ron Ragland. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Charlotte Kelly Rosko of Edmond; stepdaughters, Margaret ( Meg) Ellen Ragland of Boston, Anna Marie Ragland and her husband Jim Comas of Blue Belt, Tennessee; grandchildren, William Keeton Rosko, and Victoria Anne Rosko, both of Oklahoma City; Dr. Brian David Hudson and wife Andrea, Nicholas Robert Comas; great-grandchildren, Rylee Bohr and husband Kade, Emma and Kayleigh Hudson; great, great grandchildren Luke and Asher Bohr; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dr. Ragland was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Casady School in 1960. She went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma City University in English then her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Ragland was a member of the Oklahoma Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Ragland was also long-time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Norman.

Dr. Ragland was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many. Dr. Ragland also genuinely loved being a psychologist and helping others. She also loved to spend time with family and friends; enjoyed reading novels on her Kindle, binging binge worthy series, attending OU Sooners football and basketball games, and worked out regularly. Following retirement, she continued to take OU adult education classes through OLLY for several years and was an active supporter of the University of Oklahoma Fine Arts programs such as the OU Ballet and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. Dr. Ragland also loved to dance. She was a member of the Regency Dance Club and a “Clubette” in the Young Men’s Club with her husband Bob. Finally, she also loved attending dramatic performances at the Civic Center, Carpenter Square and OU‘s Rupel Jones Theater in Norman. As a grandmother, she loyally attended her grandchildren’s school and athletic activities, whenever possible.

Dr. Ragland will be sorely missed in this world by anyone who knew her (and of course her devoted dog Lila.) . She even seemed to have a positive impact on people who knew her even for a short time. Her love, kindness, sense of humor, feistiness and perseverance were unmatched. She was truly beautiful inside and out.
