David Cohl
Gibson
Dec 16, 1971 — Jul 14, 2026
Norman
David Cohl Gibson was born December 16th, 1971 in Oklahoma City and passed away July 14th, 2026 from very aggressive esophageal cancer.
David was exceptional at many things. He was extremely smart and school was one area he excelled at. He skipped 2nd grade and graduated early from Northwest Classen High School. After a brief enrollment at Oklahoma City University he moved to University of Oklahoma to pursue undergraduate and masters degrees in mechanical engineering. Upon graduation David went to work for the Air Force as an aerospace engineer at Tinker where he worked for 22 years until his recent passing.
He loved fast cars, most notably his highly self modified BMW. He would regularly travel to different racetracks around the country to drive super cars but always came home and said he would rather have his beloved BMW. David had an intense love of animals, especially his hairless Sphynx PeeWee who was always nearby and comforted him when he came home on hospice.
In 1995 David married Ann Lett and their grand 30 year adventure began. They travelled to many countries and always looked forward to planning the next trip. David was also an audiophile. He loved music with a passion. At OCU he made the hard decision to move from planning a career as a musician to engineering since musicians often don't have the income stream to support hobbies like fast cars and designer cats. LOL! He and Ann created so many wonderful memories that she will always be comforted by.
David is survived by his wife Ann Lett, sister in law Dorothy Lett, nieces Amara Lett and Lacey Lett-Miller, nephew Josh Miller, family friend Pam Thompson who was there through his entire illness to help and offer comfort, family friend Beth Klein, and of course, 4 Sphynx cats, PeeWee, Nudel, Oscar and Quincey.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Second Chance of Norman.
