Obituary

David Warren Dixon, aged 69, passed from this life on March 24, 2026. He was born on January 31, 1957, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Homer Estes Dixon Jr and Eva Marie Dixon.

David lived a life full of passion, curiosity, and deep love for his family and the simple joys around him. He developed a love for music early on, beginning to play the drums at just six years old, and went on to play in many bands throughout his life. In his later years, he found great joy in playing cornhole, often bringing his same joyful and lighthearted spirit to the game. He had a love for the open road and could often be found riding his motorcycle. David had a special place in his heart for animals, especially the squirrels he faithfully fed every day, and even built a home for. He was always working on a do-it-yourself project, rarely without something to fix, build, or improve. Fishing was one of his lifelong loves, especially along the Red River, where he spent time as a young boy with his parents. He carried on that tradition with his own children, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. He also found peace in the mountains and joy in nature, as well as tending to his garden, where he showed a true green thumb—just like his mom and passed down to his daughter, Kylie.

David was someone his daughters turned to for everything. He seemed to know a little about everything and always had an answer, a solution, or at the very least, a thoughtful perspective. He had an amazing sense of humor—dry, witty, and a little goofy—which his daughters proudly carry with them. He loved classic rock and oldies music, and his daughter Tori will always treasure the musical influence he had on her and the many conversations they shared about it. He worked as a property insurance adjuster at State Farm for 35 years before he retired in 2019.

David is survived by his daughters, Tori Dixon and Kylie Long; his beloved son-in-law, Aaron Long; his grandson, Ellis Warren Dixon; and his partner of 19 years, Debra Jones. He also leaves behind his two loyal dogs, Pierre and Simon, and two grand-dogs, Frankie Jo Dixon and Norman Long. David is also lovingly remembered by Debra’s family—Laura and Shawn Thompson and their children, Kelly and Gracie; as well as Abby and Zac Corter and their children, Sawyer, Jedidiah, and Cash.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory lives on in the laughter he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Eva Marie Dixon.
