Bonnie Jean Wiewel

Bonnie Jean Wiewel was born July 14, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Frank and Berniece (Holland) Welch. She passed away on August 9, 2025 after a brief battle with a rare illness.

Bonnie married Billy Wiewel in 1975. Soon after they married they moved to California where they raised their four children. During her time in California she worked at her family geothermal drilling business serving as an office manager. She also spent time as a consultant in the geothermal drilling community. When not at work Bonnie spent all of her time supporting her children in their various sporting adventures. Without skipping a beat she made sure all four of the kids were fed, and were at their practices or games, often in multiple different locations. Her involvement in their activities allowed her to make some of her very best friends, whose children she loved like her own. She also could be found in the back yard catching her pitchers, throwing to her catchers, or throwing BP/feeding the tee. Bonnie was also a member of Central Baptist Church.

Bonnie and Billy retired in 2014 and moved to Norman, OK. Retirement life consisted of gardening, taking care of their property, long car rides on all of the Oklahoma backroads, and most importantly spending all the time she could with her grandchildren. It was not uncommon for her and BIlly to spend an entire weekend jumping from event to event of their grandchildren living in OKlahoma, while simultaneously following the activities of her grandchildren in California. Every trip to California was planned in order to see as many of their grandchildren’s events as they could.

Bonnie was a woman of God, steadfast in prayer and worship. She was a caring and loyal friend who would do whatever she could to help someone out. She loved her children and grandchildren with every fiber of her being.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bill Wiewel; two sons, Bo Wiewel and wife Adrienne of El Centro, CA, and Matt Wiewel and wife Julie of Santee, CA; two daughters, Breanna Sizemore of Norman, OK, and Tesh Pace and husband Chris of Edmond, OK; nine grandchildren Matthew Wiewel, Donnie Sizemore, Kaydence Wiewel, Landon Pace, Jaylen Wiewel, Logan Pace, Mason Wiewel, Kaylee Pace, and Keelyn Pace.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Berniece Welch.
