Betty Jean Janko, age 92, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 19, 2025, surrounded by her family and the comfort of familiar things.
Born in Oklahoma City on February 23, 1933, to Taylor and Mary Etta (Percival) Kimery, Betty was one of twelve children and shared a special bond with her twin sister, Bonnie. Betty was known for her gentle spirit and deep love for family.
On September 29, 1959, at First Baptist Church in Moore, Betty married the love of her life, Jimmie Janko. Together they built a home full of warmth, laughter, and love.
For 40 years, Betty worked as a bank teller at The First National Bank in downtown Oklahoma City. Outside of work, Betty found joy in the simple, meaningful things: crocheting blankets and baby caps with loving hands, tending her garden, traveling with her sisters, volunteering at the Moore Medical Center, volunteering at First Baptist Church of Moore in the care center and vacation bible school, capturing life's little moments with her camera, and sharing weekly lunches with her sisters. Her favorite memories were made at Percival family reunions at the lake, where laughter echoed and generations connected.
Betty’s heart was large, and her love was steady. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jimmie, her parents, her twin Bonnie Faye, two brothers, and eight other cherished sisters. She leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly: her son Seba and his wife Mary Janko; her daughter Angela Burgess; her grandchildren Elecia (Scott), Tina (Matt), Jimmie (Denise), Nikkole (Jose), Garrett (Jess), Kenny, Parker (Fransisca), and Edward; her adopted grandson Jeremy Jones; her thirteen great-grandchildren Cole, Emilee (Logan), Jeffrey (Dacelyn), Gracie, Jake, Rylee, Isabella, Gabriel, Finn, Natalie, Alahna, Harley, and Levi; two great-great-grandchildren Charlie and Ellie Faye; her very special niece that has been by her side for the last few years, Debbie; her dear neighbor and friend Barbara Solze-Jones; and her faithful dog, Freedom, who never left her side.
She also leaves behind many other nieces and nephews, all of whom remember her as gentle, loving, and full of stories.
Betty Jean Janko’s legacy is one of quiet strength, deep faith, and the beauty of a life well-loved. She will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
