In Loving Memory of Barry and Betty Damrill
Barry Damrill May 2, 1940 – May 3, 2025
Betty Jo (Mason) Damrill June 22, 1941 – January 31, 2025
Barry and Betty Damrill, devoted partners in life and love, passed away just months apart in 2025, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, faith, family, and service.
Barry was born in Picher, Oklahoma, on May 2, 1940. He graduated from Picher High School before moving to Los Angeles to attend LA Pacific University. After earning his degree, he relocated to San Diego, California, where he met and married the love of his life, Betty, in December 1962. He began his professional career at Rohr Industries before discovering his passion for education and athletics. Barry served as a teacher and coach in football, basketball, baseball, and softball at both the high school and college levels. He later became the Superintendent of the Little Axe School District in Little Axe, Oklahoma.
Betty was born on June 22, 1941, in Alliance, Ohio, to Edward and Hilda Mason. She spent most of her youth in Southern California and graduated from Lincoln High School in San Diego. She went on to earn her teaching degree from LA Pacific College (now Azusa Pacific University), where she met Barry. Betty devoted over 30 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher and was deeply committed to her church community. She found joy in water aerobics at the YMCA and shared her love for crafting by quilting and crocheting Afghans for her family.
In 2023, Barry and Betty moved to Texas to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Throughout their lives, they were known for their strong faith, tireless work ethic, and unwavering love for family. Whether it was Barry coaching and mentoring or Betty nurturing and teaching, their influence touched countless lives.
Barry enjoyed sports of all kinds, hunting, fishing, and Civil War history—often combining his love of learning and travel on road trips with his family. Betty loved teaching, her crafts, and time with her loved ones, always offering kindness and wisdom to those around her.
They are survived by their sons, Jon and Jack Damrill; daughters-in-law, Kristine and Kathy; grandchildren, Jacob, Shelby, Kaitlyn, Kelsie, Mitch, and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Margot, and Van; and Betty’s sister, Jeannie Anderson. Barry is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A combined memorial service will be held to celebrate their lives, their love, and the profound impact they had on all who knew them.
Barry and Betty will be remembered not only for their accomplishments, but for the love they shared and the enduring example of a life well lived—together.
