Arulia Jo Looney, 105, passed October 7, 2019. Mrs. Looney was born April 5, 1914 in Nelson, Choctaw County, Oklahoma, to Douglas and Viola (Crawford) Herman. She moved to Norman in 1932 to pursue an education at the University of Oklahoma. She married Edward Paul Looney of Norman on April 5,1936 and spent the rest of her life in Norman. Before retirement her career in food service included years with the Norman Regional Hospital, Norman School System, and the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norman.
Mrs. Looney was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, four sisters, daughter Marian F. Freeman and granddaughter Lori Prado. She is survived by her son, James Looney and wife Connie, son-in-law William E. Freeman, three grandchildren, Douglas Looney and wife Lois, Michael Freeman, Janet (Freeman) Rose and husband David, and seven great-grand-children.
Mrs. Looney exhibited great energy and activity for all her adult years. She will be missed by all.
Graveside services will be held 9:00 am Saturday, October 12 at IOOF Cemetery in Norman. A visitation is scheduled from 6-8 pm Friday, October 11 at Tribute Memorial Care, 708 24th Ave NW, first floor. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.tribute.care.
