Anita Louise Jones

February 20, 1938 — June 26, 2016

Anita Louise Jones ,78, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016. Anita was born February 20,1938, to Ivan G. Dyer and Peggy (Ragland) Dyer, in Oklahoma City. She graduated in 1956, with the Charter (first graduating) Class of Northwest Classen High School.

Anita studied Commercial Art for two years at the University of Oklahoma, pledged Alpha Gamma Delta, and was an OU 1958 yearbook beauty finalist. She planned to finish her art degree in Paris, but this plan would change: in the Spring of '58, her sorority placed a fateful hamburger order to one "Jonesy's Drive - In", and Anita opened the door to a handsome young delivery man, Floyd H. Jones, Jr. She and "Jonesy" were married six months later, and Anita focused on becoming a devoted wife and mother. She remained an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta, serving as Alumnae President (Upsilon Chapter) for two terms, Delegate to two International Conventions, and receiving the Arc of Epsilon Pi Award for Service.

She loved to snow and water ski, and enjoyed many family ski trips to Colorado and New Mexico. They also spent many Summers in Ruidoso, NM, with Floyd's Quarter Horse racing business, and Anita grew to love New Mexico as a second home.

She channeled her artistic talents into beautiful, original-art campaigns for Alpha Gam, clever Halloween costumes, creative craft projects for her children's Campfire and Cub Scout troops, and exquisitely-painted Easter eggs. Anita's family will always cherish the birthday and holiday celebrations as her special legacy. She loved pets, especially cats, and owned many throughout her life.

In 1976 Anita became a licensed Realtor, employed at Realty World and Gallery of Homes. She was an active member of the Assistance League of Norman, and Rotary Anns. Anita enjoyed being involved with the Town & Country Neighborhood Couple’s Club.

Anita and Floyd were happily married for 29 years until his untimely death in 1987.
In 1996 she married Louis Reyns, and during their four-year marriage they traveled cross - country in a motor home, and visited Europe. "Granni" loved to spoil her grandchildren, and pamper her "sorority" of numerous calico cats. She loved dress and travel, was a unique and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Floyd H. Jones, Jr., and younger brother Jack Dyer. She is survived by her daughter, Lesli Jones, son Steven Jones, grandchildren, Forrest Jones, Mia Jones-Davis, Kiki Jones- Davis, and Emily Jones, and Great-grandson, Zane, all of Norman; and many other relatives and friends.
