Angela Gayle Corbitt was born December 29, 1953 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Willard Corbitt and Dorothy Jean (Roberts) Corbitt. She passed away in her home on January 23, 2021 in the presence of her daughter, grandchildren, dear friends, and surrounded by immense love.
After her children left the home Angela decided to go back to school and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Arts in Geography in 2006. She served on the University College Student Advisory Board and the Academic Misconduct Board and received the Leo S. Virginia Kerley Cade, Sooner Heritage, and Ralf and Margaret Olson scholarships during her time as a student. Additionally, she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
Angela enjoyed being outdoors, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, fashion, and interior design, but most of all she loved helping others. She was soft-hearted and cared deeply for people and animals and was selfless in giving her time, wisdom, and compassion to others. For the past six years she worked as a Case Manager for Norman Food and Shelter. During that time she made a significant impact on her clients, and there are many who credit her with saving their lives. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, co-workers, clients, and pets.
Angela was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeanette Raquel Garland; brother, Grant Corbitt; son-in-law, Mark NeSmith; grandparents, Sam and Gradie Roberts; and her pets, Daisy Garland, Zenyatta Corbitt, and Jack Corbitt.
She is survived by her daughter, Christy Garland of Berkeley, CA.; son -in-law, Russell Fletcher of Berkeley, CA.; grandson, Axis NeSmith of Norman, OK.; granddaughters, Serene Holder of Berkeley, CA., Athena Rogers of Norman, OK.; brother, Gary Corbitt and wife Dillian of Tucson, AZ.; nieces, Michelle Nagel and Melissa Slippen Corbitt of Tucson, AZ; pets, Ophelia Rogers, Magdalena Garland (a.k.a.
