Willis Dean Warren

Willis Dean Warren, 80, of Norman joined the Lord on January 27, 2020. Willis was born in Garvin, Oklahoma on May 3, 1939. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1958 and subsequently received both his Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees from Langston University.

Willis worked in education for the Iowa Public Schools and Langston University. He also worked for Boeing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and in McAlester, Oklahoma, where he retired. While in McAlester, he met and married his surviving spouse, Beverly Warren. He worked as a production engineer for Hitachi and later at Matador Foods in Norman, where he and Beverly eventually made their home. He attended St. John Baptist Church in Brooksville, Oklahoma and the East Star Baptist Church in McAlester, Oklahoma. He was president of both the local chapter and the national division of the Booker T. Washingon/Slater/Riverside Alumni Association & a member of the Langston chapter of the Kappa Fraternity. He was a big NCAA football fan, he enjoyed reading, and he loved music. He had an impressively large record collection.

Willis will be reunited in heaven with his mother, Rebbubell Warren; his sisters Velma Jean Warren & Bessie Warren Drennen; and his sons Anthony “Dewayne” Fountain & Randall Van Warren.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of the home; daughter Catrice Warren of Kannakee, Illinois; stepdaughter Angela Barnett of Norman, Oklahoma; former wife Glenda Warren of Gainsville, Florida; nieces Sue & Tracy Warren of Houston, Texas; nephews Charles III & Warren Drennen of Denver, Colorado; and his great grand-children, grandchildren, friends, and loved ones.
