Wanda Lee Nieto

Wanda Lee Nieto, 89, of Norman went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2020. Wanda was born in Colony, Oklahoma on August 27, 1930 to Marvin and Cenis Hatchell. She graduated from high school in Arapaho, Oklahoma, and soon after, she married Paul Nieto on August 28, 1948. The couple made their home in Norman in 1949 and raised two sons, Paul and Greg.

Wanda was an avid golfer and bridge club member for over 50 years. She enjoyed various volunteer projects in her younger years and was an active parent in her sons’ schools and sports. Wanda was known as an excellent cook and hosted many a family meal and functions. She was the best Meme to her cherished grandchildren, Lexi and Nate. Holidays were Wanda’s specialty where family enjoyed the best of her decorating and cooking skills. Wanda worshipped as a member of several Baptist churches during her lifetime. She also enjoyed her daily Bible readings and devotional time with God and read through the Bible several times.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin & Cenis Hatchell; her husband of sixty-two years, Paul Nieto; her son Paul M. Nieto; her sister Norma; and her brother Eddie. She is survived by her son Greg Nieto and his wife Diana of Norman; cherished granddaughter Lexi (Nieto) Henegar & her husband Justin of Noblesville, Indiana, and her beloved grandson Nate Nieto of Oklahoma City. Wanda is also survived by her late son’s surviving spouse, Lee Nieto of Norman and seven adored great-grandchildren of Noblesville, IN, who were the delight of her heart. Wanda will also be missed by extended family members and a host of very dear and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations made in Wanda’s honor and memory to The Gladney Center, 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76132-4122.

A private family burial will be held at a future date in Clinton, Oklahoma where Wanda will be laid to rest near her husband and son.
