Tommy Alford

February 18, 1952 — February 16, 2022

Thomas “Tommy” Richard Alford, age 69, died February 16, 2022. He was born on February 18,1952 in No. Little Rock, AR, to Richard Marion and Carrie Ruth (Miller) Alford.

Tommy graduated from the Wildcat Class of 1970 after which he earned an associate degree as an audio engineer in broadcast journalism. He began his career while still a student at ASTC (now UCA) at radio KASC. He made many close friends as he worked later at radio KLAZ and after in tv at AETN and KTHV in audio. He was very proud when he broadcast the Arkansas Razorback football games over several seasons. Later he began his most rewarding and challenging work as a self-employed, freelance audio engineer. His work required him to spend much of his time traveling. Tommy covered stories such as Waco, The Murrah Building, Hurricane Katrina, and 9-11 bombings for multiple television networks which included CNN, NBC, Fox, and ABC.

Tommy liked to stay busy. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, The Democratic Party, and The Silver Dollar Club. He also enjoyed watching his Arkansas Razorbacks, television and movies, as well as listening to all kinds of music. As all his friends will confirm he was really funny!! When he just needed some down time, he would retreat to his favorite scenic places at the Buffalo National River and the Little Red to relax or his occasional trip to the beach.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father and mother. Left to cherish his memory are his sister and brother-in law Marian Alford Hodges and David Hodges of Little Rock AR; daughter and son-n-law, Shellye and John Poole of Ablilene, TX; daughter and son-n-law, Kara and Ryan Polk of Norman,OK; son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Katelyn Alford of Haskell,AR. and grandchildren Cooper, Marin, Maddy, and Malia Polk; Britton, Everlye and Griffin Poole and Brylie Alford.
