Tommie Lou Adkins

Tommie Lou Adkins was born November 6, 1927 in Holdenville (Witty Community), Oklahoma to Walter Leroy Pogue and Laura Ethel (Glass) Pogue. She passed away at home in Oklahoma City, OK, on December 8, 2016.

Tommie married the love of her life, Bob Adkins on August 30, 1947 in Fort Smith, AR. Her years of employment included many years in credit management with various retailers and most recently as a credit manager with the OKC Credit Bureau. Tommie’s faith was paramount in her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moore and previously at the Petit Jean First Baptist Church of Morrilton, AR. Her roles in the church included: Treasurer, Missions Director, Choir Member and Sunday School Teacher. Tommie also served as an Executive Board Member of the Arkansas Southern Baptist Convention. She was an active member in the Petit Jean Home Demonstration Club. Hobbies included: embroidery, reading, singing and flower gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Trent and husband Jerry of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandchildren, Tiffany Abram and husband Tommy of Hamilton, VA and Tyler Trent and wife Jennifer of Midwest City, OK; great-grandchildren and lights of her life, Judah, Emmalee and Micah Trent of Midwest City; step grandchildren, Crystal Abram-Garcia, Lauren Abram-Nestorovic and Mariah Abram; stepgreat-great-grandchildren, Caden and Ava; and several nieces and nephews.

Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ethel Pogue; husband, Bob Adkins; brother, Verlon Pogue; sister, Helen Sweeden; three nephews and three nieces.

Tommie’s family extends special thanks to the management and staff of Sommerset Neighborhood Assisted Living & Memory Care and the angels of Oklahoma Hospice Care.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in the First Baptist Church of Moore with Reverend Bill Scroggs officiating. Interment will follow at City of Moore Cemetery in Moore. Services are under the direction of Tribute Memorial Care, and condolences may be shared at www.tribute.care.
