Sue Chilless

September 28, 1957 — March 5, 2022

Sue Miller, born September 28, 1957, entered the arms of Jesus on March 5, 2022, she was 64. Born in Independence, MO, Sue was the third child of four born to Billye Sue and Dr. Dow Miller. Sue’s family moved to Norman in 1960.

As a young child water skiing, riding motor bikes and horseback riding were activities that Sue loved to do with her family. She was in Blue Birds, frequented Skateland - where she executed a perfect “shoot-the-duck”, took piano lessons, played the clarinet, and danced many years at Miss Barbara’s studio.

Sue attended West Junior High and Norman High graduating in 1975. Pep Club and boys were two of Sue’s interests. She served as Vice President of the Pep Club during her senior year and enjoyed going to the school’s sports games.

Sue was very active at McFarlin United Methodist Church throughout her life. Starting at a young age, she participated in the bell choir and sang alto in the youth choir. She was blessed to travel for four summers touring multiple states with the music program. Sue stayed involved throughout adult life attending her PALS Sunday school class, traditional and contemporary services and helping serve as co-director of Family Camp.

After high school, Sue chose to attend The University of Oklahoma. She found herself in love with being a Kappa Kappa Gamma. Through Kappa she made lifelong friends that have repeatedly proven to stand by her through thick and thin.

For 16 years, Sue worked as a receptionist for her dad’s orthodontist practice in Norman. She manned the front desk, making everyone who walked through the door feel welcomed and respected. It was an honor of hers to work so closely with her dad. He instilled hard work, thoroughness and compassion, all qualities that Sue carried on in her own life.

Sue also pursued a career teaching G.E.D with Norman Public Schools and OCCC, where she took great pride in the success of her students. Sue proudly served her students up until retiring in 2020.

Sue has two daughters, Megan & Madison, who are now grown and starting families of their own in the Dallas area. Sue’s favorite career move, above any other, was moving to Frisco, TX to take on the role of ‘Nana’. She could not have been more proud of her grandson, Beau (1) and granddaughter, Millie (6 months). Being a mother came naturally to her and being a Nana was no different. She was often found on the floor playing with blocks, stacking cups and reading books. Her life was blessed with daily pleasures of watching these two babies grow and develop.

Sue was athletic, friendly, community-minded, self-sacrificing, humble, generous, and without a doubt…easy to love. Her laugh was enjoyed by all, often noted to be contagious and she had a smile that caught your heart and lit up any room.

The friends and family of Sue will miss her dearly. We will carry on her legacy by choosing joy, smiling big and hugging hard.
