Raymond Dearl Cottrell of Blanchard, OK was born on January 24, 1938 to Leo and Rosa Lee (Baker) Cottrell in Oklahoma City, OK. He passed on Christmas Day, 2017 at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was drafted into the United States Army as a young man, proudly serving his country in Germany before returning to Oklahoma to work in the stockyards, a career which he loved until his retirement after 42 years. Raymond loved being outdoors and around nature. He was great with horses, breaking them all the way up until he was 74 years old. One of Raymond’s favorite pastimes was to go camping with his family. He adored his grandchildren and was very active with them, going on hikes or jumping on the trampoline with them. He loved to read, especially books by Louis L’Amour, and he absolutely loved peanut brittle. Raymond was also a devout member of the Trinity Holiness Church in Blanchard.
Raymond is survived by: wife Kathrin Cottrell of the home; daughter Sherrie Dodson and husband Marvin of Hanford, CA; brothers Syl Cottrell and wife Charelotte of Pauls Valley, OK and Orville Cottrell and wife Becky of Stratford, OK; sisters Laveeta Summers and husband Mac of Ada, OK, Darlene Hansen of Cambridge, MN, and Arlene Mink of Sulphur, OK; grandson Rusty Dodson of Blanchard; and great-grandchildren Raiden, Logan, Maddex, Weston, Breauna, and Brooke.
