Phyllis Jeanne (Hale) Logan, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and Granny, passed away at the age of 91 on Monday, June 6, 2016. She was born to Sam and Leota Blanche (Harrell) Hale on February 20, 1925 in Sentinel, Oklahoma. The family moved to Norman in 1933, and in 1941 purchased the historic Holmberg House on DeBarr. Phyllis attended the University of Oklahoma where she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority before marrying the love of her life, Bill Logan, on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944. Bill and Phyllis enjoyed 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2000.

Phyllis’ father opened Hale’s Department Store on Main Street in 1933, and as soon as she was old enough Phyllis began working there, where she worked for over 40 years until the store closed in 1980. Phyllis was not one to slow down and worked for another 24 years. She kept the books at The Webb for ten years, and then worked in her brother’s Allstate Insurance Agency for another ten years. At the age of 74 she obtained her state insurance license and worked for Allstate for four years before finally retiring at the age of 78.

Phyllis was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a devout Christian Scientist and a proud member of PEO, Chapter DZ. She had a love of sports, and was an avid supporter of OU, the Thunder, the St. Louis Cardinals, and Norman High School.

Phyllis lived for her family. She is survived by her brother, Sam G. Hale, Jr. and wife Elaine; daughters Suby Williams, Deborah Fisher and husband Gaylord, Laurie Logan and partner Denise Bakewell, and Maggie Coffman and husband John; grandchildren Joshua Kennedy, Rick Talley, Sam Talley and wife Lisa, Brad Talley and wife Heather, Rob Williams and wife Tracy, Logan Coffman, Malone Coffman, Pablo Fisher, Marco Fisher, and Ross Stuart; great-grandchildren Nicole Kennedy, Nathan Kennedy, Josie Kennedy, Jackson Talley, Ella Talley, Luke Talley, Kensie Talley, Max Talley, Melanie Talley, and Whitney Williams; and she was “Granny” to many others!
