Peggy Lies

Anna Margaret (Beatty) Lies was born July 11, 1932 in Mansfield, Massachusetts, to John Beatty and Anna M. (Williams) Beatty. She passed away peacefully with her family at Norman Regional Hospital on April 15, 2024.

Peggy graduated from the Carney School of Nursing in 1953. She met “Joe” while in Baltimore as part nurses training. Peggy married Francis Joseph Lies of Chicago, Illinois in 1955. They made their first home in Roxbury, Mass, while Joe completed his degree from Boston College. They lived several places, but moved to Andover, MA, where Peggy worked in the Phillips Academy Infirmary. They moved to Norman in 1970. Peggy went back to nursing in 1975, at Central State Hospital and retired from there in 1994.

Peggy took care of her parents and siblings with frequent trips back to Massachusetts. She knew all her daughter’s friends, who were frequent guests in their home. She was a lifelong Catholic and with Joe supported St. Thomas More Parish with endless time and treasure.

Survivors include Kathleen Lies Hallren and husband Martin Hallren, of Norman; grandson John Michael Hallren and wife Beza Yosef of Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Edward, William and James, two sisters Mary and Rita.

A Rosary will be held at St. Thomas More University Parish, 100 Stinson St. Norman at 6:00pm Monday, April 22, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in St. Thomas More University Parish, 100 Stinson St. in Norman. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Norman. Services are under the direction of tribute Mmorial Care, and condolences may be shared at www.tribute.care.
