Max Loren O'Hara

May 22, 1929 — April 25, 2018

Max Loren O’Hara of El Reno was born on May 22, 1929 to Bernard and Mabel O’Hara in Oklahoma City. He entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on April 25, 2018 at the age of 88, surrounded by his loving family.

Max graduated from Tuttle High School and attended Oklahoma A&M before going to the US Air Force where he served as an aircraft mechanic instructor. He then went to work for the Dolese Brothers Company. He worked his way up to be the General Superintendent of Concrete Operations before his retirement after 40 years of service. On June 12, 1955 in Clinton, Oklahoma, Max married his best friend and the love of his life, Florence Mueller.
Max was a civic leader in his community, serving on several boards including the Canadian County Water Authority Board, the Banner School Board, the East Canadian County Soil Conservation Board, the Oklahoma Rural Water Association Board, and the Ecomotion Advisory Board.

The O’Hara Family received the 1994 Farm Family of the Year award for Canadian County and Max also received the Hall of Fame Award in 2015 for the ORWA.

Max had a penchant for antique tractors and trucks, owning several of the former, and one of the latter; an Omaha Orange ’65 Chevy pickup. To fuel his interest, Max participated in the Silver City Antique Tractor Club and the Canadian Rivers Old Iron Club. In his spare time, he farmed and raised draft horses.

Max was a man of great faith and was very involved in the Trinity Lutheran Church. He served as a Church Elder, on the Board of Trustees, on the Building Committee, and as an Usher. Max was a dedicated family man, and always put those he loved first. In his retirement he loved spending time with his grandchildren, frequently taking them out for Coke floats.

Max was preceded in death by: parents Bernard and Mabel O’Hara; daughter Deanna O’Hara Williams; sister Velva Koebelen; and grandson Kane Benjamin O’Hara.

Max is survived by: wife Florence O’Hara; sons Loren O’Hara and Bert O’Hara and wife Laura of El Reno; son-in-law Kenneth Williams of Duncan, Oklahoma; brother Forrest O’Hara and wife Loretta of Tuttle, Oklahoma; grandchildren Forrest Moore and wife Pam, McCall White and husband Johnnie, Kaila Williams, Lane Williams, Mary O’Hara, and Grady O’Hara; great-grandchildren Peyton Moore, Malania White, and Remington Moore; sister-in-law Kathleen Lucus and husband Dwight of Clinton, Oklahoma; special secretary Vicki Peck; and a host of extended family and friends.
