Kurt D. Loeffelholz

June 6, 1961 — November 14, 2021

Kurt David Loeffelholz, 60, of Norman, Oklahoma passed from this life of congestive heart failure with family at his side on November 14, 2021. Kurt was born in Norman on June 6, 1961, the third child of Alois J. Loeffelholz, Jr. and Jeannene R. (Wampler) Loeffelholz.

In his youth, he spent a great deal of time fishing in his grandparent’s pond, riding bikes around town, and playing games with siblings and cousins. Collecting stamps was a passion he adopted from an uncle, as well as listening to music introduced by his older brothers. He loved climbing trees and rooftops with neighbors, and his parents instilled a love of adventure and travel.

During his school years, he excelled in math and science, and he was the president of the Chess Club at west Mid-High. He enjoyed scouting and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 242. He graduated from Norman High School in 1979 and attended the University of Oklahoma.

He worked at Earlywine Golf Course and moved to California to further pursue his interest in golf. He returned to Norman in 1995 and pivoted his career to stage work, joining – and serving a term as vice president for – the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). During this time, he traveled throughout the country working as a rigger at many super bowls, large venue events, plays, and concerts. The work suited him well, fulfilling his love of sports, music, math, travel, and heights.

He was a proud member of AA for over 20 years, living his life with courage and resilience and will be remembered for his never-ending kindness to family, friends, and strangers.

Kurt is survived by his mother Jeannene (Wampler) Loeffelholz, brother Bruce Loeffelholz of Norman, OK, sister Lee Ann (Loeffelholz) Nelson and her husband Jeff Colwell of Tulsa, OK, and sister-in-law Joyce (Draper) Loeffelholz of Norman, OK. He was the proud uncle of Ron Taylor, Travis Nelson, and Meredith (Nelson) Bittel. He was preceded in death by his Father Alois J. Loeffelholz, Jr. and his brother Thomas (Tom) D. Loeffelholz.

Kurt’s life will be honored with a public graveside service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, 1913 North Porter Avenue, Norman, OK. The service will be officiated by Father Joseph Irwin.
