Kathi (Hoagland) Beckett

Kathi Beckett (Katherine Ann Hoagland) was born April 4, 1951 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Harry J. (Jr.) and Bette Nadine Hoagland. She had five siblings: Jim, Tom, Mary, Sarah, and Phyllis. She passed away at Norman Specialty Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma on Friday, January 22, 2016.

Kathi attended Claremore High School and graduated in 1969. She was involved in drama class and was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. Kathi then received a debate scholarship to Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma, where she attended from 1969 to 1970. In college she was an actress and a synchronized swimmer.

In 1971, Kathi moved to Norman, Oklahoma where she lived the remainder of her life. She worked at NBC (Norman Bank of Commerce). She then married Larry Anderson in 1974 and had Amber in 1975 and Blair in 1981. During this time period she was the President of St. Bridget's Guild and the President of the Women’s Club at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her other interests included bowling and volunteering with United Way and Handi Trans.

She began working at Security National Bank & Trust Co. in 1991 as a teller and worked her way up to the trust department. She then moved to the Security BankCard credit cards division where she eventually became the Sales Support Manager. She had been with the bank for 25 years when she left.

On September 5, 1998 she married the love of her life, Lewis Beckett, in Norman, Oklahoma. They shared many wonderful years together and many trips to Hot Springs, Arkansas and Kansas City, Missouri. She was then thrilled to become a grandmother to Ea Johnson in March of 2012 and to Bailey Johnson in June of 2014. Her interests included sports, OU football, movies, musicals, and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis Beckett of Norman, OK; daughter Amber Johnson and husband Bo of Lincoln, NE; son Blair Anderson of Norman, OK; two grandsons, Ea and Bailey Johnson of Lincoln, NE; two brothers, Jim Hoagland and wife Duffy of Claremore, OK, and Tom Hoagland of Miami, FL; two sisters, Mary Thomas and husband Larry of Liberty, MO, and Phyllis Gallina and husband Kevin of Ocean, NJ; and one niece and ten nephews: Amanda Weidemann of Lakewood, WA, Nick Hoagland & wife Michelle of Verdigris, OK, Cory Sheats of Claremore, OK, Ryan Hoagland of Ocean, NJ, Winn Hoagland & Cat of Tulsa, OK, Stuart Hoagland & wife Laura of Richardson, TX, Wes Vrska & wife Andrea of Verdigris, OK, Kris Payne of Grapevine, TX, Kyle Payne & wife Angela of Lewisville, TX, Chris Thomas & wife Nicole of Boca Raton, FL, and Tyler Gallina of Ocean, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry James Hoagland, Jr.; her mother, Bette Nadine Hoagland; her aunt, Mary Katherine Willoughby; and her sister, Sarah Margaret Koons.

Kathi’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the nurses and doctors of the Norman Regional Hospital ICU and the Norman Specialty Hospital.
