James "Jim" Buchanan Harris

September 3, 1939 — April 19, 2016

James Buchanan “Jim” Harris, 76, passed away in his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Jim was born to Lewis and Nannie (Harris) Harris on September 3, 1939 in Cedardale, OK.
After graduating from Waynoka High School, he married Ilda Mae (Hodges) Harris. Jim served his country proudly and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1963.
Jim began a career with OG&E in 1963 and continued as an accountant until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his garden. Jim is known for his wonderful flower’s which he loved sharing with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his three sons; Roger Dean Harris, Michael Wayne Harris and Jeffrey James Harris and Misty Andrew all of Norman; one brother, Oliver Berle and Joyce Harris of Lake Chelan, Washington; three sisters, Alma Jean and Jim McKenzie of Quinlan, TX, Lois Ann and Herschel Day of Garland, TX and Virginia Rose Bechtel of Quinlan, TX; five grandchildren, Zachary Harris, Savannah Harris, Dakota Harris, Faith Cooper, Randy Baxter, many nieces and nephews, and long-time friend Betty Goss. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Nannie (Harris) Harris, spouse, Ilda Mae Harris in July 9, 2009 and sister, Connie Maxine Miner.
Services for Jim are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016, Bethel Baptist Church 1717 W. Lindsey St., Norman, OK 73069. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Redden Cemetery in Redden, OK.
