James Howard "Jim" Henning

James Howard “Jim” Henning passed away in Norman on March 3, 2017. He was born July 19, 1934 in Norman, Oklahoma to William Alexander, Sr. and May Kay (Kelly) Henning.

After completing education at Norman High, Jim began a career in dry cleaning business working for Nuway Laundry & Cleaners before retiring after more than 40 years of service in 2003. Jim married Hazel Oteka Thompson in October 22, 1955 in Ada, Ok and together they started their family by raising three sons, Randy, Rick and Doug. Jim enjoyed growing “BIG Watermelons” and other fresh vegetables for his family and friends, listening to country music and learning about Disney, it’s characters and their creator, Walt Disney.

Survivors include the mother of his three sons, Hazel Oteka Henning; son, Randy W. Henning, J.D. and wife Dorothy and their children Tyler Henning and wife, Toddye of Norman, OK, and Zachary Henning of Norman, OK., Douglas Henning and wife Robin of Cole, OK, and their children, Chelsea Henning and Jody Henry, Richard L. “Rick” Henning of Norman, OK; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Cameron Henning and Zoei Henry; one brother, Thomas “Tommy” and wife Sandra Henning of Pauls Valley, OK, and one sister, Venus Ann Green and husband Bob of San Antonio, TX, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Alexander, Jr.
