FRANCES ANN (FRANTZ) RITCHEY 1938-2021
Frances was born March 27, 1938 to Jessie Mae and Melvin Frantz in Norman, OK. She passed away in Norman on October 20, 2021. She was raised in Norman and attended OU, where she met Grant and married the love of her life on June 26, 1959. After finishing at OU in 1961, they spent four years in Kansas City while Grant attended dental school, returning to Norman in 1965, where they lived since.

Frances never met a stranger. She had a gift for gab, made new friends daily, and was a second mom to her children’s friends.

A lifelong Norman resident, Frances was active in many organizations, was an avid tennis player well into adult life as well as becoming a master bridge player. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and her beloved OU Sooners, where her family has had season tickets since the 1930s.

She is survived by her husband Grant, son Grant Jr. (Lori), daughter Casey Ritchey Williams, granddaughters Julie Ritchey (Tim Munro) and Macy Barbee (Michael), grandsons Sam and Henry Williams, and great grandchildren Ellis Ritchey-Munro and Violet Barbee. Also surviving are sister Linda Richardson and husband Tom, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Frances was a beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 21st, 2022, at Legends Times Two from 2 - 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org).
