Dorothy Mable Redmond née Godsey passed away December 25, 2020 at Norman, OK at the age of 95. Dorothy was born in West Fork Township Monona County, IA on May 28, 1925. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Lt. Col (USAF ret.) Glen F. Redmond, her parents Curtis West “Jake” Godsey and Maggie Mae Godsey née Fletcher, sister Donna D. Koenig, brothers Clifford C. Godsey and George W. Godsey, and sister-in-law Pamela Godsey. She is survived by daughter Doreen K. Redmond, son-in-law Steven C. Palmerton, granddaughter Chelsey D. Palmerton, sister Rosemary Hansen, brother Richard Godsey, two sisters-in-law Beverly Godsey and Bonnie Godsey, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorothy grew up on her family’s Iowa farm and remembered her father plowing the fields with a pair of draft horses, the ditches filling with orange dust during the Dustbowl and lots of hard work. After high school graduation in Sloan, IA, she attended beautician school in Sioux City, IA and then worked as a beautician in Sioux City.

Dorothy married Glen F. Redmond April 28th, 1946 in Sloan, IA and they lived in many states during his USAF military service of 24 years including the country of Japan where their daughter Doreen was born.

Dorothy and Glen built their 30th home together and settled in Gretna, NE in 1969 and were long time members of the Gretna United Methodist church. Dorothy was involved in volunteer work for many years such as driving for Meals on Wheels, mending for the Gretna nursing home and collecting and delivering supplies for a women’s shelter. She was also known for her delicious homemade pies, bread and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed hobbies of embroidery and sewing and took great pride in a beautiful, clean home.

Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Dorothy's honor.

Interment of ashes date to be determined at Fairview Township Cemetery in Albaton, IA.
