Denyse Barton Gaston

Denyse Gaston, 70, of Norman passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2021. She was born January 30, 1951 in Janesville, Wisconsin to R Lee Haynes and Thelma Haynes (Barton).

Denyse grew up in Marengo, Illinois, attended school, received an MBA from the University of Oklahoma in 1981. She worked in finance from then through 1989, managed Quorum Condominiums until recently, loved OU football, crafting, and her friends. She will be remembered as an extraordinarily practical person who tried to use her gifts to help those around her. In particular, she was a devoted mother; having lost her own mother at the tender age of 17, she was committed to giving her own daughter all the support and love she could give.

Denyse was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her daughter Heather Nichole Gaston.

The family will be present to receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Main Street Event Center, 300 E. Main St, Norman, Oklahoma. This will be an informal service, with a few words from Denyse’s daughter followed by any rememberances anyone wishes to share.

Memorials may be made in memory of Denyse to the Second Chance of Norman or charity of choice. All who knew her know that she was never fond of receiving flowers and loved animals, dogs in particular.
