Charlotte S. Johnson

June 22, 1948 — September 2, 2020

Charlotte passed peacefully from this life on the morning of September 2nd, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last moments of her life. Charlotte was born to Phillip F. and Culera L. Evington Jr. on June 22nd, 1948 in Henryetta, Oklahoma where she was raised and educated. In high school, Charlotte was a member of the Henryetta Fighting Hens Marching Band where she played the clarinet. The band was so good, winning many championships, that they were invited to march in the Cotton Bowl Day Parade in 1964, on New Year’s Day. She was always first chair. Charlotte resided in Norman, Oklahoma where she was a member of the Alameda Church of Christ. Charlotte received her Associates of Science in Accounting from Kiamichi Technology Center in Durant, Oklahoma. Charlottes employment history was pretty standard. She was a professional laundry attendant, a professional back rubber, and for the last twenty years she was an accountant for The Department of Corrections of Oklahoma. Charlotte was sweet with a side of zest. “Hey bub, wanna dance?” She had a wonderful way with words that influenced us all to either do what we were supposed to or suffer the consequence “Do your business or get off the pot.” Charlotte enjoyed time with her “Debbie’s,” at The Mont getting “Swirled.” Charlotte will be remembered as the family law enforcer, who always looked to the better future. Remember, “It’s all gonna be ok sis”

Charlotte is survived by her brother, Phillip “Bud” Evington, and wife Deloise Evington and their children Kevin Evington and Tammy Evington. Her great nephew, Ethan Evington. Her daughter Hilary Haworth and her children, Nakoma Haworth, Montrell Ellison, Chase Haworth, Quincy Davis, Jordan Shannon, Morgan Davis, and Whitney Tennison. Her son Eric Byrom and wife Ashley Byrom and their children Cheyanne Byrom, Paisley Byrom, and Wyatt Byrom. She had sixteen great-grandchildren, Calious, Rashad, Quintravion, C’nadra, Samir, Jordan Jr., Louis, Kaylin, Jeremy, Amaya, Amari, Cataleya, Zanette, Zaylin, Kevari, and Kayn who adored their Gigi.

Charlotte’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to: Loving Care Hospice, Alameda Church of Christ, Tribute Memorial Care, John and Linda Chaffee, and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
