Carolyn Sue Erwin

February 27, 1949 — July 10, 2017

Carolyn Sue Erwin of Norman was born on February 27, 1949 to Iliff Dewayne and Madge Mildred (Wall) Newton in Norman, Oklahoma. She passed at the age of 68 on July 10, 2017 in Oklahoma City.

Carolyn held many interests and talents. She loved to read People Magazine and romance novels and she had quite a porcelain doll collection. In her younger days she enjoyed gardening and caring for her many houseplants. Carolyn was involved with her church’s Ladies’ Ministry and she faithfully read her Bible. Carolyn relished the opportunity to travel, especially to Mt. View, Arkansas, where she would listen to bluegrass music and stay at a bed and breakfast with her husband. She adored her grandchildren, and two of her favorite things to do was to take her granddaughters out for shopping and Chinese food and to watch Tarzan movies with her grandson.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, three sisters, and her first husband, Kenneth Garoutte. She is survived by: husband Tom Erwin; son Tim Garoutte of Norman; daughter Rhonda Wingate and husband Johnny of Blanchard, OK; step-son Todd Erwin of Del City, OK; grandchildren Tasha Garoutte, Kyle Wingate and girlfriend Kayla Schornick, and Kassidy Wingate and boyfriend Chase Stinson; and many nieces and nephews.
