Carl Hastings

July 10, 1939 — October 2, 2021

Carl Hastings was born July 10, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roy Baker Hastings and Dessie Belle (Keffer) Hastings. He joined the angel’s choir in God’s kingdom October 2, 2021.

He grew up in Moore, OK and was always active in sports throughout his school years. He married the love of his life, Clydette Kirk July 17, 1959, in Norman, Oklahoma. Carl was quite a character and easy going. He would go out of his way to help others and never met a stranger. He spent his career in the automotive aftermarket building lasting friendships and relations during his tenure. For those that knew him, Carl was truly a people person through and throughout and was always so positive and fun to be around. He would frequently offer you a toothpick and always had plenty of those to go around. If you ever ate dinner with Carl, you might have heard him say “Gooood Stuff” while eating, which was the true “seal of approval”.

He loved playing golf and enjoyed playing dominos, card games, and especially loved watching all OU sports and Thunder basketball. But his favorite thing to do was spending time with his granddaughters, Abby and Kaitlyn. He would take them to the duck pond, always making sure they had some spending money, and “big hugs” were given freely and often. He would say “Always Have A Little Jesus In Your Heart”!

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Richard P. Hastings. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Clydette, of 62 years; daughter, Shea Steely and husband Mike of Norman, OK; son, Kirk Hastings and wife Nancy of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Abby Hastings; twin sister, Carolyn Hastings of Idaho, sister, Jeannie Dansereau and husband AJ of Guthrie, OK; and a host of friends.
