Alvera L. Dickerson

Alvera L. Dickerson, 89, passed away Wednesday May 4, 2016 in Purcell, Oklahoma. She was born February 13, 1927 in Bessie, Oklahoma to Louis and Rosa (Reinschmidt) Gerner.

She was united in marriage on December 20, 1951 in Oklahoma City to her loving husband, Claude L. Dickerson.

Alvera worked as an administrator for the Altec Lansing Corporation in Oklahoma City, retiring after 18 dedicated years. Prior to that, she worked in payroll and accounting at Montgomery Wards, as well as Cutchall’s Men’s Fine Clothing in Penn Square Mall located in Oklahoma City.

She was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed sharing and teaching her culinary skills to her grandchildren. She loved to prepare and host meals for her family and friends, and she was known to always have an array of freshly baked goods on-hand. She was a devoted grandmother, and she adored her grandchildren. She always made herself available for every activity and field trip she could attend, as nothing made her happier than putting a smile on their faces. She sang in the church choir at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she had been a dedicated member of the congregation since 1960.

Alvera is survived by one daughter, Judy Oliver and husband Chris of Norman, OK; Two sisters, Grace Spradlin of Clinton, OK, and Mary Clarkson of Oklahoma City, OK;
4 Grandchildren, Jeremy Love of The Colony, TX; Jessica Nelson and husband Scott of Austin, TX; Ashley Oliver of Norman, OK, and Ryland Oliver and wife Kiran of Norman, OK;
2 Great-Grandchildren (with one on the way) Ryleigh Oliver and Kiegan Oliver of Norman, OK; and a host of nieces, cousins, and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rosa Gerner, and by her husband Claude L. Dickerson.
